newsIn October Scott visited the recently completed Surfers Paradise Foreshore Project on the Gold Coast. A Gold Coast City Council project, the redevelopment reconnects the heart of Surfers Paradise with the beach through a series of beach plazas at the street ends, a generous beach front promenade supplemented with a "B-line" promenade at the road edge successfully accommodates the large number of beachgoers. The remaining foreshore is crisscrossed with beach access paths creating pockets of green where planting is established, barbecues & picnic areas are laid out, and amenity blocks are located. Beach access is formalised as you nearer the main street with the use of stairs, terraces and ramps all which negotiate protected blocks of dune regeneration.
